It’s easy to write Persian text in this wiki. The only problem is that the text will not start from the right side of the text box, as Persian text should. Perhaps you know more about wikis, but it seems there isn’t even a way to get this one to simply align at the right or left upon command.
We could, possibly, reformat the entire wiki to orient it from right to left. That way, ALL text would start from the right. Then we would just have the problem of English text starting on the wrong side of the box.
The key objective here is to eventually have the capability of writing from right to left (Persian) when needed, then switching from left to right.
This is a bit too complex for the wiki to handle right now.
A solution is on the horizon, however. Web browsers are becoming more adept at handling bi-directional input upon command. These capabilities can be seen in the tag of html. With html, the code that allows you to switch from right to left is this:
<bdo dir="rtl">تکست راست به چپ اینجا</bdo>
To see how this works, visit this webpage.
As mentioned, however, this is a wiki. It uses different syntax and html is irrelevant here. We have put in a feature request to the designer (Apr/29/08) for a plugin or additional code to make this wiki display text in two directions upon command.
If anyone has any other suggestions, let us know!
