We know stone as a hard and powerfull material but how much that is hard ,city development and need for housing will decompose that, our modern light and elegant structure devouring the heavy ,tired and massive traditional construction.
Some years ago this wall was built for protecting trees of a garden but with development of city the owner of garden decided to change his garden to ground fo bulding when there is no tree for protection the wall is like a glass without waterbut buildings attract people like a beehive so these is a struggle between priority of human needs: unnecessary gardens’ walls replace with necessary housing

The title is a movie name. But it is match with what you mentioned.
But I have to ask why you just mentioned the gardens’ “wall”. I mean the Garden itself is replaced by huge apartment buildings. But nowadays, you can see that people underestand the value of gardens; and try to protect them.
